MÉTAPHORES FRAGMENTS 2026

THE BEAUTY OF RAW MATERIAL

For designers who lead with texture rather than pattern, Fragments is a quiet revelation. Unveiled during Paris Design Week this September, the new capsule collection from Métaphores sets drawings aside entirely. Instead it turns to grain, surface and touch.

Inspired by an exploration of natural elements, Fragments evokes raw materials in their most honest form. There is no unnecessary sophistication here. Natural fibres such as wool, cotton and linen are woven with technical yarns, giving each cloth volume, relief and soft bouclé textures with subtle shifts of colour.

Our Creative Director Susanna was in Paris for the launch, and saw the collection at the Métaphores showroom on Place de Furstenberg. “The whole collection is wonderful,” she said, “and I am sure it will be well received in Australia.”

SEVEN DESIGNS, THIRTY-THREE COLOURWAYS

The collection brings together seven designs across 33 colourways, in calm, earthy tones that catch light and diffuse it softly. Wide-width sheers and drapery sit alongside textured upholstery weights:

  • Murmure – 7 colourways, 302cm wide
  • Latte – 2 colourways, 305cm wide
  • Pelote – 4 colourways, 140cm wide
  • Vapeur – 3 colourways, 330cm wide
  • Silence – 6 colourways, 130cm wide
  • Illusion – 4 colourways, 320cm wide
  • Racine – 7 colourways, 144cm wide

Authentic, tactile and made to last, these are fabrics that sit quietly alongside furniture and architecture, and reward a closer look. Boyac has proudly represented Métaphores in Australia for almost 40 years.

WALLS THAT TELL A STORY: THIBAUT’S MURAL RESOURCE

Murals have decorated homes since prehistoric times, from early cave drawings to Greek and Roman frescoes. With Mural Resource, America’s oldest wallpaper house carries that tradition into the present, with six new designs and three returning favourites in fresh colourways.

Many of the designs draw on Thibaut’s own archive and on historical documents. Wild Wisteria is reproduced from an 18th-century watercolour panel, and Jardin Bloom from an 18th-century Chinese hand-painted mural. Roma is taken from an antique etching of the Tiber winding past St. Peter’s Basilica. Taormina, an original painting, captures the Sicilian coast in watercolour brushstrokes and fine pencil detail.

Pearlescent grounds, cork-like textures and silk-effect finishes bring a refined, tactile quality. Supplied in 12-foot non-woven panels, the murals pair with coordinating wallcoverings such as Chaumont Silk and Indira Cork for adjacent walls and ceilings.
